Scaling Up Shared Decision-making in Home and Community Care in Canada

Needs and options are multiplying in the home and community care context, resulting in an increase in the number and types of decisions made by seniors. The mission of our research program is to ensure that as many people as possible are better supported to make informed decisions based on evidence and their values and preferences. We held a dialogue day in December 2019 to address some of the challenges of scaling up shared decision-making in home care and social services. Representatives from Alberta, Ontario and Quebec as well as national organizations attended the forum. All reiterated their commitment to creating an environment for shared decision making.
