Academic formation

Professional experience

With a background in knowledge translation and in shared decision making, Anik Giguere develops evidence-based tools to help seniors, their caregivers and healthcare providers make joint healthcare decisions based on the pros and cons of all available options (including watchful waiting), and patients’ preferences in regard to those options. She studies new approaches to develop evidence-based tools: decisional needs assessments, rapid literature reviews, user-centered design processes, and communication strategies to engage the more vulnerable seniors in shared decision making. Her goal is to help the healthcare providers empower seniors and their caregivers in making decisions on issues that affect their own health, to ensure they achieve informed, value-congruent decisions meeting their priorities.
